2. It helps the national economy too - Historically, two-thirds of net new jobs in this country are created by small business. Small firms are also responsible for over half of national GDP.
3. Small business owners give back - According to a survey down by NFIB, 91% of small business owners gave back to their community by volunteering, in-kind contributions, and/or direct cash donations. About 41 percent contributed all three ways. The estimated average value of contributions is $6,600 per small employer, contributing and not, for a total of roughly $40 billion.
4. Create local jobs - Local businesses create local jobs, the more shopping done at a business many times means a new salesperson needed, which creates a local job.
5. Greater Access to product diversity - Small businesses have just as much access to vendors (who also determine pricing, not stores) that big box businesses do. If a small business doesn’t have the products you want or need, ask them – they’re also usually much more receptive and willing to order them for you.
